Some 50,000 people from almost every state and more than a dozen foreign countries are expected to arrive in Bardstown, Kentucky this week for the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival, that runs until Sunday, Sept. 17.
The festival features arts and crafts displays, distillery tours, food, drink and live music on the Spalding Hall and City Hall lawns this weekend, Sept 15-17. Other events are planned all week long, from the All-Star Sampler on Wednesday, Sept. 13, to a barrel-rolling contest on Saturday, Sept. 16. On Thursday an information session will explain “The Science of Maturation,” and on Friday the information topic will be “A Whiskey and Its Grains.” Saturday, around a cozy fire at the Wickland Historic Home, Host Susan Reigler, Executive Bourbon Steward and President of the Bourbon Women Association will discuss the nuances of Bottled in Bond Bourbons. All weekend, Bourbontown is an opportunity to sip premium Bourbons, meet and greet various Bourbon dignitaries and hang out with other Bourbon aficionados. The Bourbon Festival is also, of course, a way for Bardstown to show off its historic downtown. businesses throughout the city are partnering with distilleries to focus on Bourbon all the time and in every way.
